Materials and Geotechnical Engineer

Eng Lynn Joy AKINYI

MSC, P.ENG EBK,MIEK

Joy is a Civil Engineer and Project Management professional with over five years of progressive experience in infrastructure and construction. She has built strong expertise in road development, materials testing, pavement design, and geotechnical investigations, supported by a solid background in site supervision, quality control, and engineering documentation.
Her experience spans both government and consultancy environments, where she has consistently contributed to the successful delivery of projects through effective coordination, technical precision, and adherence to engineering standards. Joy is known for her analytical approach, attention to detail, and ability to translate field and laboratory data into practical engineering solutions.
She holds a Master of Science in Project Management from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from
the University of Nairobi (UoN). She is a Registered Professional Engineer with the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK) and a member of the Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK).
Joy is committed to delivering high-quality, efficient, and sustainable infrastructure, making her a reliable and forward-thinking professional in the construction industry.

Chief Material Technologist

Julius OGINGA

Mr. Ogallo is a registered Professional Engineering Technologist with the Kenya Engineering Technology Registration Board (KETRB), bringing over three decades of distinguished experience in materials engineering and geotechnical investigations across East Africas infrastructure sector including Kenya, Rwanda,Uganda,Tanzania,Somalia and Zambia.


He is highly regarded for his deep technical expertise in the testing and evaluation of soils, aggregates, and bituminous materials, as well as his extensive involvement in geotechnical investigations for roads, dams, irrigation schemes, embankments, and power transmission projects. His career reflects a rare combination of hands-on laboratory mastery and strategic technical leadership in large-scale infrastructure development. Mr. Ogallo began his career at the Ministry of Public Works – Materials Testing and Research Department (TRRL/NRRL), where he served as a Research Technologist (1993–1998). He subsequently took on senior
leadership roles, including Head of the Geotechnical Laboratory (1994–1997) and later Head of the Highways and Traffic Laboratory (1997–2010), where he oversaw critical testing programs and contributed to the development and quality assurance of national infrastructure projects.


He later joined the University of Nairobi, rising to the position of Chief Technologist, where he played a key role in advancing laboratory systems, mentoring upcoming engineers and technologists, and strengthening applied research, before retiring in 2017 after an exemplary career.He holds a Higher Diploma in Highway Engineering (Mombasa Polytechnic, 1991) and an Ordinary Diploma in Civil Engineering (Kenya Polytechnic, 1984).

Ian OGALLO

Assistant Engineer

Ian Ogallo is an Assistant Civil Engineer with over three years of experience in infrastructure development, with hands-on involvement in road works, structural projects, materials
engineering, and pavement design.
He has developed strong technical competence in materials testing, geotechnical investigations, and pavement analysis. His experience spans both field and laboratory environments, where he has contributed to site supervision, quality control, and preparation of engineering reports.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and is a Graduate Engineer registered with the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK). He is driven by a strong ambition to excel in
materials engineering and become a leading expert in pavement and geotechnical design.

Ronny OMONDI

Ronny Omondi is a holder of a Diploma in Civil Engineering with extensive experience in soils, aggregates, and bituminous materials. He has worked on both road and building projects, gaining hands-on expertise in laboratory testing, geotechnical investigations, mix design, and on-site supervision of structural works. His experience spans material testing, pavement evaluation, quality control, and ensuring compliance with engineering standards, making him a versatile and highly competent civil engineering professional.
